Earlier in the week a regular client of mine called me back to reattach a laminate top back onto an old cabinet that she uses in her laundry room. I also installed new sturdy table legs on the other end. I also sanded, primed, and painted her kitchen window sill that had sustain some minor water damage before she had her windows replaced.
A couple new friends of mine, Albert & Mary, who also moved to Tennessee recently reached out to me about going up to Clarksville to look at a few small projects. New flooring, fence/gate repair, and a deck facelift. This is one of their rentals, and it was just vacated earlier this month. The new flooring is on order, so while we wait for it to arrive I started with the removal of all the 1/4 round shoe molding from all around the baseboards, and scraped off the old caulking. Then took up all of the old flooring on the first floor, and discovered some mold form an old leak. I cleaned, scrubbed, treated the mold using a microbial cleaner, and opened the windows to ventilate the house.
A section of their fence, and the gate had sustained damage from some heavy storms that came through Clarksville also. I dis-assemble the effected area, and re-set two posts. I bolted one post into the house using 6 inch concrete lag bolts to provide extra support for the one side of the gate. The post supporting the other side of the gate was a little loose, so I used a fence post mender (wedge) to stiffen it up.
Then finally I replaced a broken up, and rotted deck board. I plan to go back, sand the deck, and apply a coat or two of semi-transparent stain. After I tighten up some areas that are loose.
