Projects of the Week 06/29/24

The large format tile installation continued at Ricky's for a few days this past week with the setting of tile cuts around the pony wall, and shower curb. I also set the large tiles on the tub valve/spout wall, and cut the tile for inside the window jamb which will be set this coming week. As well as the shower niche tile cuts, and then satin nickel bull nosing all around.

Between days at Ricky's I was able to service a few other clients of ours, which allowed for tiles to set. 7 of our new client's walk through drywall jambs were damaged during their new flooring installation, and called me to see what I could do about them. I used drywall mud to shape them, and then I caulked the bottoms of them. I also replaced sections of baseboard trim on her stairs that their dog chewed up, then filled, caulked, and sanded it. I'm going back there this upcoming week to prime & paint all of these areas. I also cleared out the gutters for a new client that hadn't had them cleared in a few years, and there were plants taking root in some sections of her gutters, which I hadn't seen before.

Projects of the Week 06/22/24

I spent the majority of last week continuing with the large format tile installation at my client Ricky's place. It's taking a little more time because Dan has been on a leave of absence, and I haven't been able to work on it every day. I managed to cut & set most of the tiles on the back, and inside pony wall with some remaining to do around the window. I then cut and placed some on the remaining walls, including other side of pony wall, then cut & drilled holes for the shower & tub valves. I will be setting these tiles next with thin set mortar, as well as the tiles around the window, remaining pony wall tiles, and then finally the shower niche.

I serviced other clients in between phases of the tile work. Along with some other tasks not pictured here I mounted a TV, and started to set posts for the remaining fence run along the car port at Lisa's house.

Projects of the Week 06/15/24

We continued the large format tile install this past week with the final cuts of the floor tile. Before the wall tiles can be installed I had to finish out the walls around the perimeter of the tub & shower, and then rolled out PVA primer on the new drywall mud so that the thin set tile mortar will adhere better.

I also returned to my friend Lisa's place where I'm starting the final phase of her backyard fence project. She wants a shorter fence with smaller fence boards up against her carport, and larger gaps between each board to create a more traditional picket fence look. The lower fence with larger gaps will allow for a better view of her backyard. She is also planning a backyard landscaping makeover in the near future.

This past week I also cleaned out old fence panels & debris from the back of my friend Lisa's house (not pictured), and then installed the cane bolts for her new fence gate.

Projects of the Week 06/08/24

This past week "Hawaiian Dan, The Handyman" started laying the floor tile by installing mosaic tile in the shower pan . The homeowners Ricky & Darlene selected these luxurious glossy 2' x 4' porcelain tile with some great looking veining. Just before we hired Dan, he had planned to take some personal time off until the end of June, so I will be taking over the tile install.

I also replaced an almost completely degraded shed ramp for another regular client of ours, and adhered no "no-slip" material over the top of it. I also started some other exterior trim work that she has going on, but it's not pictured here.

Projects of the Week 06/01/24

This past week started out with Krys re-painting the front handrail outside of the Midtown Lofts for The Verdei Group, LLC.

While Krys was painting, I was re-running the new drain for the freestanding tub that we're going to put in after the tile installation is complete at our client Ricky's house. Then our newest team member, "Hawaiian Dan, The Handyman" finished up with the waterproofing nearly the entire bathroom. Dan sealed the fasteners & joints on all the walls including both the Wedi walls, and Schluter System Kerdi Board walls around the tub. Then he sealed the Schluter-Ditra membrane on the floor as well.

Projects of the Week 05/25/24

This past week our Pro Painter Krys and I finished up the dumpster surround fence gate repair & stain project that we started the week before at the Midtown Lofts in Nashville for The Verdei Group.

I finally remembered to get a photo with our newest team member, and blessing, "Hawaiian Dan, The Handyman". Dan, who is highly skilled in many areas, is responsible for most of the work that we've completed so far at the shower/tub replacement project. Earlier this past week he installed the new bathroom vent fan & ducting. I filled the shower drain area opening with rocks, sand (no photo), and poured concrete around the drain. After Dan screeded the concrete fill and letting it set, he then installed the new Wedi Systems shower pan the following day. We moved the new freestanding tub into the room to layout exactly where the tub drain will be set next week, and then Dan continued installed the waterproof Wedi System walls around the shower, and then the Schluter Systems "Kerdi-Board" walls around the tub area.

This next week we plan to finish waterproofing the walls, and then prepare the floor for the new large format tile (24" x 48"), which will be used throughout the shower and tub surround as well.

Projects of the Week 05/18/24

The shower & tub replacement project continues at our clients Ricky & Darlene's house. Our new team member Dan did a great job roughing in new valves for both the shower and the tub. After some more framing and blocking which was needed before we install the new Wedi system shower pan and walls for the shower. We will also be using the Schluter wall system for around the tub, and then it will all be tiled in. The tub train was also relocated to sit under the new free standing tub.

I returned to my friend Lisa's house this past week to install the new fence gate latch, and handles. I also replaced all of the fence boards on the gate in front of the dumpster enclosure at the Midtown Lofts property that The Verdei Group Property Management has started managing earlier this year. We will install the new hardware on this gate after we stain it.

We also engaged in various tasks for another couple of regular clients this past week as well. Some of these tasks included priming & painting a garage entry door, hung sheer blinds, replaced a toilet flush handle, installed some bathroom accessories, and a few other small tasks not pictured here.

Projects of the Week 05/11/24

The shower/tub replacement continues for our regular clients, Ricky & Darlene. We originally were called out there after they had a drain stoppage, and their toilet backed up, then water flooded there toilet room. An abatement company came and cleaned everything up, and cut the damaged drywall out 2 feet up the wall. Ricky wanted us to replace the drywall, and finish the wall. However, they have been contemplating to update their bathroom for years, and now are using this opportunity to get it done, and they wanted our team to do it.

This was also the first week for my new team member to show his skill level in many areas including carpentry, drywall repair, and plumbing. Our new team member is named Danford (aka Dan), and he did an amazing job framing in the new 2" x 6" back shower wall, and re-running the plumbing for an outside hose spigot. He also framed in the new pony wall, which isn't complete yet, but we will complete that based on the finished depth of the new Wedi Systems shower pan. We also laid out the new location for the free standing tub drain, and will be re-running the drain plumbing next.

Meanwhile, while Dan was working at the shower/tub project, I ran around servicing our other clients needs including a new vanity light fixture, bi-fold door, and re-attached some crown molding in a kitchen. I engaged in a few small projects last week, and some aren't pictured here. Including a small task for BJ's Warehouse Club where I covered the cement bollards with plastic covers at their tire bay that provides softer protection for cars bumping into them by accident.

Projects of the Week 05/04/24

At the beginning of the week I filled in the last section of the back fence for Lisa in Old Hickory. On another day I replaced Lisa's appliance handles from a darker copper finish, for handles with a beautiful & brighter brass finish, which matches her cabinet hardware, and faucet.

Another regular client of our, Shari called me to do some more work at her day spa. Her spa is named 3rd Coast Salt Day Spa, and it's right off Mount Juliet Rd in Mount Juliet. She had me hang a couple more sound curtains, and hanging hooks in a few of her rooms.

The big project of the week was the demolition of a shower, and a large tub for a new free standing tub, and a shower with a glass panel and door. My new hire Dan, who starts on Monday this coming week will assist in the framing of a new pony wall that the glass panel will sit on, and a 2x6 back wall for the shower as well. Which the vent pipe will be re-routed into. Stay tuned for progress photos next week!
