Projects of the Week 08/31/24

This past week I was able to catch up some accounting & office work in the afternoons because it was far to hot to work outside at that time due to the heat wave. However, I managed to finish up Rickye's fence, and side gate working in the morning only. The plan was not to replace the fence post in the corner, but once I removed the old fence panels, we noticed a considerable amount of rot around the base of the post. I removed the old post and concrete, then set a double post. I used construction adhesive, and three 8 inch carriage bolts to put them together before I set them into concrete. I recessed the nuts and washers into the one side of the post, then cut the bolt flush with the post so no one would hit them as they walked through the opening. The 2nd post is for  when the neighbor re-installs a new gate on their side. Next week I'm, going back to clean up, and move off the job. At that time I'll cut off the tops of the new posts

I also stopped in at a regular client of mine in Franklin to install a new closet shelf for her rental property.

Projects of the Week 08/24/24

It was great having my Nephew Everett here for a few weeks to give me a hand with our client Rickye's backyard fence, but he flew out this past week to meet his Dad, sister, and family in Washington state.

Before Everett left, we finished the fence line up to the new gate opening, and had two sections following the gate opening as well. After he left I assembled & installed the new gate. Then I continued the fence line to the corner, and returned back up towards the house. I have new projects starting up this upcoming week, but I should be finishing up Rickye's fence as well.

This past week Everett and I visited another regular client of ours to hang a new ceiling fan, and hung a couple other items, but we didn't get any photos.

Projects of the Week 08/17/24

Our client Rickye had his glass shower door and panel installed this past week. My Nephew Everett and I also took a day to do a little housekeeping, and rented a truck to haul off the old fence panels that we removed so far. As well as a pile of shrubs & branches that were in our way so we could continue the fence line. We discovered that a fluffy little Skunk had taken residence under the pile of old fence panels that we had already removed, and was under it the entire time we were loading up the truck. We also spotted a little rabbit poking around the pile earlier in the week.

Projects of the Week 08/10/24

This past week my Nephew Everett and I focused primarily on the Fence/Retaining Wall project, with no other projects going on. Due to the unusually high temperatures, we only worked in the morning hours through the week, and I was able to spend some personal time with him during his visit. He has been doing a great job assisting with moving dirt, installing the retaining wall, and is a natural with the nail gun that he used to nail up the fence boards. He would be a valuable asset to our company if he decides to eventually move to Tennessee.

We also poured concrete for the base that's going to support our client Rickye's new umbrella canopy.

Projects of the Week 08/03/24

This past week I took some time off and explored the Smokey Mountains for a few days with my Nephew Everett, who also has started working with us when we returned. He recently had graduated after two years in the Job Corp where he was taught many trade skills, and he's ready to put those skills to good use on Rickye's fence project.

Rickye finished up the paint in the master bathroom, and re-installed their toilet as well while I was on my mini-vacation. The glass shower surround & door will be installed in another week or so.

Projects of the Week 07/27/24

This past week we took care of some details at the Master Bathroom project in Old Hickory, including new transitions into the closet, and bedroom from the bathroom. Rickye, the homeowner has been helping out with some of the wall painting, and I painted the doors to the toilet room and closet. Rickye plans to paint the barn door as well.

I also began Rickye's backyard fence/retaining wall project with the installation of 2 sections at the corner where Rickye had already installed the front facing section, and new gate last year.

I finished up the carport fence at Lisa's as well, and installed a new latch.

Loni, a relatively new client of ours called me out to replace outlets and switches throughout her entire home that she had recently purchased. Including a few GFI protected outlets like the one pictured. It turns out that she didn't buy enough to complete the task, so I'll be going back soon to finish that up.

Projects of the Week 07/20/24

Now that the large format porcelain tile has been installed, and grouted. It's now time to finish up all the trim and baseboards, and prepare them for paint. Ricky has been helping out as well by finishing up some of the caulking that I started, and painted one side of one of the doors. This coming week we should finish up all, or most of the painting including the walls, doors, and trim. I also installed the new vent fan and ducting in the toilet room as well.

I was able to get back over to my friend Lisa's place and put up the rest of the fence boards for her car port that we had. We are about still short about a dozen, and had to order more, so she should be all wrapped up soon. Thank goodness that she hasn't been in any rush to have it completed, and allowed me to work on it a little bit here and there.

This past week I also engaged in a few other smaller projects, and some are pictured here. I re-painted an exterior door (inside and out) for Midtown Loft in Nashville for The Verdei Group, and hung a few items for a regular client our ours in Thompson Station.

Projects of the Week 07/13/24

The freestanding bathtub trim was installed this past week, and then a new frosted glass barn door was installed at the shower/tub project as well. New doors for the toilet room, and closet were also installed.

Lisa's carport picket fence project continues as well with the addition of a new gate, and then the horizontal rails were installed to attach the pickets to. 5 inch lag bolts were also driven through the fence posts into the concrete slab for extra support.

I also visited a regular client of ours to hand some decorative items, and a few are pictured here.

Projects of the Week 07/06/24

All the large format tile & brushed nickel bull nosing has been installed, and grouted at Ricky's. Including the shower pan mosaic tile. We then proceeded to start the shower and bath trim, which will be completed this coming week. I'm waiting on some special fittings to be delivered to finish up both handheld shower heads. One for inside the shower, and the other next to the tub spout. We moved the new freestanding tub into place as well. Ricky scheduled a glass company to come out next week to measure for their new glass shower door & panel.

I've been working on and off at Lisa's ongoing fence project also. I set 3 posts at the end of her carport where her gate will be. I also installed a kitchen light fixture for a new client of ours this past week.
