Projects of the Week 04/20/24

After a well needed break, we are back at work, starting with our awesome regular clients! First up was our regular client Linda. Her and her family sold their home in Thompson Station, TN, and purchased one just a little bit larger down the street in the same neighborhood. The items I re-hung are not pictured here (since I posted them already from their first house), and I only posted photos of some new additions. Including some new paintings, outdoor plant hangers, and hooks for her wind chimes. Among a few other things.

Grant, another regular client of mine who lives in the Del Webb Community in Mount Juliet also called me back to add some new plywood walk planks in his attic for more storage space. As well as a raised shelf for some of his larger boxes.

Then of course, Lisa. I continued on her fence project with the addition of a few new panels on the back fence line. I also installed her new white microwave which matches all her other new white appliances. Apparently the installers do not install appliances on to tile. I'm not sure why, because I've installed dozens of things onto tile. Perhaps they didn't want to risk chipping the tile, but that's where experience in this area helps.

Projects of the Week 03/30/24

Late last year we finished up renovations in half of a duplex to prepare it for re-sale. The duplex sold, but more items came up that need to be completed before the transaction could be completed. A couple of these items were that the dishwashers in both units needed to be replaced, which I did last week. Another is a window replacement in the vacant unit which we renovated last year. During the renovation we replaced the exterior trim around the existing window, and it all had to be removed for this installation. All the interior trim was removed as well. Window flashing was used for improved waterproofing, and then all the trim was re-installed. Some of it new, including the interior casing and sill. I painted the casing and sill, but still need to touch up the wall paint around the perimeter.

I also hung a couple of custom antique clocks for a client of ours in Thompson Station.

After the completion of some various punch list items, we finally completed our work at the BJ's Warehouse Club project in Mount Juliet

Projects of the Week 03/23/24

We finished the gate, and the rest of Lisa's fence up to the car port. We didn't want to cut the trees down, so we had to go around them Like we show in previous Projects of the Week photos. In this case, we cut out the fence around a smaller tree, and built a box around it. This box is also functional and Lisa plans to put a plant or two on it.

Bobby and Krys thought we were finishing up what was supposed to be the past week on the BJ's Warehouse Club project, but more projects were added, so we will be there a bit longer. They have been doing the painting over night, and during the day we engaged in various other tasks. We installed the chargers for their floor scrubbers, new signage on some doors, filled in large gaps between the aluminum door frame and the eve, then painted the fill material. We also painted the large air duct in the tire service bay, and touched up paint on the metal in one of the office rooms. Along with many other small tasks.

Projects of the Week 03/16/24

The rain still interfered with our exterior projects, including Lisa's fence project. However, we managed to get some fence boards up in the angled corner on a slope which by using a string made it super simple. I also created an eact match to the left fence gate on the right. I then set more posts for the rest of the fence that will run up to the corner of the car port.

This past week we also re-visited a past project. Last year we helped to renovate one of the units (Unit A) of my client's duplex to get it ready to get up on the market. However, there are a few tasks that need to be completed first. In Unit B they needed a new bathroom fan vent installed, and a new dishwasher in both units. Soon I will be replacing the small kitchen window next to the back door. Then various smaller tasks.

My guys, Krys and Bobby continue to plug away at the BJ's Warehouse store in Mount Juliet also. That over night project will be winding-down this coming week.

Projects of the Week 03/09/24

This week the rain continued on and off, but I was able to get a few more fence panels up at Lisa's new house in Old Hickory, TN. Including the setting a few more fence posts as well. I also downloaded a new, and fairly powerful & well known design software this past week. It's called "Home Designer" by Cheif Architect. I then watched a few tutorials to learn a few basics during those rainy days when I couldn't work on Lisa's fence.

I talked with two people who would like to hire me to possibly install new cabinetry in their kitchens, so I used Home Designer to whip up an initial design & layout for each of them. For one of them, I took a floor plan that they acquired with the home that they just purchased, and plugged it into Home Designer. Not only did I design a new kitchen for them, but prceeded to add a new 1/2 bathroom, and enlarge their Master Bedroom and bathroom. As well as a few other smaller modifications. They are talking to a General Contractor about doing some of the major work, based on my plans, but I will be participating in kitchen part of the project. Including the installation of the cabinetry, appliances, finished plumbing, and other accessories. As well as the demolition beforehand.

Bobby & Krys continue to make progress with the overhead painting project at the BJ's Warehouse store . Another week or so, and that should be complete. I also showed up at BJ's this past week, and did some caulking around the inside window framing neer the membership desk. I also went to a townhome complex in Nashville to install 4 new hardwired smoke detectors. This property is managed by The Verdei Group. The Property Management company out of Franklin, TN that I committed nearly all of 2023 working for at another older townhome property, also in Nashville.

Projects of the Week 03/02/24

The fence project at Lisa's continues. I was only able to get over there a few days a week due to weather, and only for a few hours. I was able to remove some old dead plants in the left corner and get some panels up there. Then I dug a couple holes and set a couple new posts at the end of the week. This upcoming week I'll be continuing up this left side, and eventually to the car port. Which will include a new vehicle gate as well.  Team members, Bobby and Krys continued with the overhead metal/conduit touch up painting project at BJ's Warehouse store in Mount Juliet this past week. We also engaged in the completion of a few punch list items that the construction company who hired us asked us to do. Bobby and Krys cleaned off the tops of the large refrigerators in the store, and I painted the truck guard posts. I also painted a tapering curb "Safety Yellow" in the back of the store to identify a possible tripping hazard.

Projects of the Week 02/24/24

This past week we continued with my friend Lisa's fence, and I also removed her stainless steel kitchen sink. Then replaced it with a new beautiful white granite composite sink, and a disposal drain collar that she picked out to match her faucet. I also installed a new Schlage "Encode" WiFi enabled dead bolt lock set on her front door, with a matching handle/latch.

My crew (Bobby & Krys) began a large month long "over-night" touch up paint project at the new BJ's Warehouse store in Mount Juliet where they are painting galvanized metal electrical conduit, and other electrical hardware that was installed after their painters had already left before the store had then opened for business.

I also installed a new 48 inch LED light fixture in a pantry closet for a client who lives in Del Webb, Mount Juliet, and a simple ceiling fan for another client in Hermitage.

Projects of the Week 02/17/24

We were all very busy this past week, and blessed with much work. Along with hanging a beautiful oval mirror, we also began the fence project for my friend & Route Family, Lisa at her newly remodeled Tennessee home in Old Hickory. Bobby and I removed a huge old fallen tree limb from a section of the fence that was holding it up. We removed the limb by cutting it into small pieces for easy handling with a chainsaw. With assistance from my pro Painter, Krys Kura, he and Bobby managed to install almost 100 feet of fence panels. They also had to set a few posts to create a fence bump out around two trees, and their roots.

Lisa also received her new sink this week, and a disposal collar that matches her faucet. I will be installing the sink in the upcoming week or the following week. We also installed 3/4" plywood plank attic walk boards on top of 2x4 & 2x2 material fastened to the joists to raise the planks up to avoid wiring, pipes, and it adds more overall stability.

Projects of the Week 02/10/24

This past week we did many small projects, and received the delivery for a larger fence installation project as well. I mounted a few TVs for a client, including two in her kid's bedroom that they share, and now they can play both of their game systems at the same time. Then one in her room as well. The sister of a friend of mine in California just moved into a new home in Brentwood, TN and I mounted her and her husband's TV onto their massive stone fireplace. I've never seen a fireplace this tall! Other projects included new shelving in a closet, installed a small vanity cabinet & faucet, outdoor wicker chair assembly, replaced a stair tread (which will be stained & finished soon), and hung a painting.

Projects of the Week 02/03/24

This last week, I engaged in many little things, worked in the office, and planned for some larger upcoming projects. However, I did manage to work on a few projects in the field. A client of mine from California bought a flipped home out here that she plans to move into someday soon. Until then, she will let family stay here until she's ready. There are a few items that still need to be done, and I did some of them this past week. I installed a Ring camera/doorbell, and a Ring floodlight/camera in the back. I also installed a new mailbox, and a smart lock entry set on her front door, and was there when they put in her new cable line for Internet. One of her floating shelves was loose, so I tightened that up for her.

Another client of mine installed a bunch of new door casing trim around their house, but wanted me to fill, caulk, and paint it all. Including much of the older existing trim. I used the same paint on one side of their hall bathroom door as well.

Garage storage can sometimes be tricky at times. Especially if your space is limited to the floor and wall space only. Hanging ceiling racks can allow you to use the horizontal space above. One of our other clients also found great cleaning/gardening tool hook racks that really help to utilize space while stayting organized as well. This last week we also installed new Ring camera/flood lighting, and hung some home decor, including a couple of mirrors and vanity light fixtures.
