This past week I began a series of tasks at The Colony House in Franklin, TN, and I will be engaging in more in the upcoming weeks through the summer as well. First there was an old dead tree in the back of one of the buildings that had been there for decades, and it was time for it to go.
There were also many gutter downspouts that had detached from the building and were loose. I unstrapped them, secured the strapping back in, and re-attached the downspouts. Drainage has also been an issue too, so I installed extension tubes to many of the downspouts as well. I discovered about a half dozen more downspouts that also need extension tubes, and I will be doing that this upcoming week. Splash pans also needed to be re-aligned so that they re-direct water properly.
The Verdei Group, the property management company who manages the Colony House also asked me to remove the pine mulch underneath two wooden staircases in front of one of the buildings because it was a possible fire hazard, so I filled about 10-11 bags and disposed of them.

This past week I had to duck inside away from the deck arbor project at my client Nicole's house to get out of the rain, so she had a new faucet and drain assembly in her hall bathroom. She also has a room that I will be installing new flooring in sometime soon, but the subfloor had a strong odor, so I applied a nice thick coat of the new KILZ Restoration water based stain and odor sealer/primer.
Since it was still raining, I stepped away from Nicole's projects to another new client our mine in Gallatin, TN who called me to install a new 3/8" thick glass shower door kit.
Then I went back to Nicole's in Spring Hill, TN when the weather improved, and finished up the staining the back & sides of her newly constructed deck arbor. This was after I installed new lattice all around the bottom section of her deck below the arbor, and a couple other areas. I also stained all the new lattice as well the previous week.

This past week was very productive, compared to the week before when rain delayed a couple of projects. I began to take more video clips of my work also, and posting up the clips daily so people can get a better insight to what goes on during each day.
I started the week off by completing the stairwell paint project at the Colony House in Franklin, TN. Including the entry door.
Towards the end of the week Linda, a regular client who lives in Thompson Station called me back to hang a view more decorative items around her home.
The major project of the week was the deck arbor project in Spring Hill, TN for my client Nicole, and her Mother Judy. My Nephew assisted in getting much of the lumber for the arbor pre-stained, and we did it in the shade so we didn't have to do it later in the hot sun. I installed all the lattice and stop material (molding) which I ripped down from 2x2 material. Then later installed the upper lumber on top including the rafters, which was all pre-stained.

While I was refinishing the deck for my new client Nicole, and her Mother Judy the week before we planned on constructing an Arbor to provide shade in the area where they do most of their lounging around the pool. It was scheduled to be completed by the end of this past week, but rain put a damper on that plan, and I plan to finish this upcoming week, weather permitting. The plan is to install 4 large 2" x 10" beams running across the top at the front and back, and then securing 2" x 4" material for the rafters on the top of those. Then the entire Arbor will be stained using the same "Super Deck" solid color stain by Sherwin Williams that I used on the deck. We stained the edges of the lattice and the stop molding material that the lattice will be secured to. Those areas would be hard to stain after the lattice installation.
Since it was raining on and off all last week I was able to tackle a few other indoor tasks. I patched and finished a hole in the ceiling above a shower for my client Cecelia's other rental property in Nashville. I did some extensive drywall repair and painting at her other rental property at The Midtown Loft as few weeks back.
I also started a small paint project at the Colony House in Franklin, TN. The rain kept me from finishing that little project as well. The entry door has to remain open while I paint for ventilation, but I couldn't because the rain wouldn't be good for the door hardware, so that has also been re-scheduled for the following week as well.

Rain came through the Nashville area this past week, but I managed to get stain on the parking lot side of some new fence boards at The Colony House in Franklin that I had had installed earlier. I had already stained the street side the previous week as well.
Since it had been raining on and off all week, I engaged in some indoor tasks. A client of ours at the Midtown Loft in Nashville asked me to replace two of her bathroom faucets, and drain assemblies. I also replaced a bathroom faucet for my friend and regular client Lisa. Her old faucet just didn't hang over into her sink far enough, so I replaced it with one that does. I also installed a new hook for Lisa's bird feeder on her front porch.
My friend Lisa's neighbor, who is also her lawn care guy asked me to assemble a new TV hutch for him. This hutch has a built in power strip with LED lighting with adjustable light settings, including different colors.

I started a deck facelift/re-staining project in Spring Hill, TN the previous week for my awesome new clients, Nicole, and her Mother Judy. I replaced a few rotting deck boards. Then this past week I filled many holes, and cracks, and used a standing sander that we rented at Home Depot to sand the entire deck. Next I applied a nice thick coat of Sherwin Williams "Super Deck" solid color stain that I color matched to a piece of old deck board that OI removed. Next I will be constructing an Arbor onto the deck to provide partial shade over the section of the deck where they hang out the most.
Later in the week I went back to the Verdei Group managed condominium property named "The Colony House" in Franklin, TN where there are ongoing projects. One of these ongoing projects is replacing rotting fence boards, and then staining them. Many other areas of the fence that goes all around the property needs some minor repair work as well. The drywall I repaired the last time I was there needed a coat of PVA primer, and I took care of that. I also replaced two rotting railing caps a couple weeks ago, and then applied a coat "Super Deck" solid color stain that I color matched to a piece of the old rail cap.

Its that time of year! People are repairing and sprucing up their decks in time for summer gatherings, and gardening is in full swing!
This past week started out with a small prime and paint project for regular client in Franklin, TN. Over time water had started penetrating and damaging the trim above her garage door. Most like from around her address number plate, which I used caulking to create a seal around. I continued to prime and then paint the entire trimmed area.
I returned to Lisa's place in Old Hickory and continued with the planter box base project. I completed the assembly of the bases, and then attached the planter boxes using cleat material. Then I used more fence board material to create a trim around each unit as well. Later Lisa used "Seal it Green" to coat the entire planter box interior including the plywood bottom to help protect the wood for years to come.
The end of the week included multiple deck repair projects. The first was at a rental managed by The Verdei Group in Clarksville, TN where I replaced a few rotten boards. I took a piece of the old deck to Sherwin Williams where they were able to match it with a new gallon of solid color "Super Deck" stain. I plan to do the same thing for a new client in Spring Hill, TN where I also replaced a few boards, and also all the top railing cap around the deck. In this case I will be renting a standup sander this upcoming week and sanding the entire deck before staining.

I completed a few smaller projects this past week, but that was after the completion of Lisa's Gazebo assembly in Old Hickory. It came together nicely, and then I mounted the legs into the cement footings that I set the previous week. Then I hung the enclosure and mosquito netting.
The Verdei Group property management called me out to patch a ceiling hole in a unit that they manage after a plumbing leak was repaired. I'll be going back to spray texture, prime, and then paint later.
Brian and Allison are new clients of our in Arrington, TN that I had recently replaced an exterior door for, and completed a ceiling repair for them as well. They called me back out to do a ceiling repair over their front porch, and match their existing paint. First I used a PVA primer before painting after I sanded the final top coat of joint compound.
A facility management company out of Florida reached out to me this past week as well. They manage the Ashley Furniture stores in Middle Tennessee, and around the south. I was asked to install a new FDC sign (Fire Dept Connection) outside of the Ashley store in Mount Juliet, and then asked me to put un a new handicap parking sign at an Ashley location in Cookeville, TN also. That store needed a new floor transition in their showroom as well.
